Laurel Ryosen June is a writer and healing arts practitioner, mystic and self-appointed thaumaturge, newly rooted in Santa Fe by way of California and the Olympic Peninsula. She first came here to engage a year-long contemplative residency at Upaya Zen Center and has since chosen to stay, honing her vocation through continued study, practice, and devotion. Her work over the last 9 years has evolved into a singing braid of Taoist acupuncture, biodynamic bodywork, and visionary medicine, drawing on the vibrational wisdom of flowers, trees, and stones as guides and catalysts. She is also a maker of talismanic gemstone rosaries, a musician, a lifelong dancer, and a devotee of the Ministry of Joy, Wonder, and Love.
On “Ryosen”
In March of 2025, in a public Zen Buddhist ceremony called jukai, I received a spiritual name: Ryosen, Spirit River. This dharma name invokes a force of nature. It points to undulation and perpetuity and the might and magnitude of water. Flowing, enspirited, carving a path, catching the light, undeterred. All qualities I seek to call upon and inspire in this work I am deeply honored to offer.
